Sandy-
I talked to Kathy today on the camping details. Your right on the 90 days/3month deal. It's $23.95 plus tax per night. You have to call no sooner than 12:01AM, yes AM, on 3/17 to reserve for Friday AND Sat nights 6/17 and 6/18. If your only going Sat night, then it's 12:01AM on the 3/18 NOT 3/17. If you call at 11:59pm or 12:00am you are considered to be calling for the PRIOR DAY 3/16 and you will NOT be able to get the 6/17 and 6/18 FRI and SAT Combo. The 1st 20 people to leave their name, best phone number(s) to be reached, the dates, and the camp sites preferred(see the web site to view site#'s)get in. The voicemail is time stamped and 5 people can leave a message at 1 time. So, by 12:05 the camp grounds could be booked. It is an amazing camping area and I think it's worth the hassle. Input please!!

Danny - for anyone that doesn't want to camp, there used to be a convenient motel right next to the North Palm Beach Marina on US 1 where the ICW enters Lake Worth. It's the building at the extreme left center of the picture with the red tile roof. Only about a 10 minute run to Peanut Island from there. Will see if I can find out more info on it tomorrow. Denny

Danny,
Interesting intel. I got a message from some gal with a very heavy Asian accent. Very hard to follow, but as an aside my laptop is running faster. I`ll see if I can get a hold of Kathy today. Let`s feed this train some more coal, GFS |

There are several hotels/motels on Singer Island, but the larger ones on the beach are a pretty good hike from the only marina that I know of, the Sailfish Marina. Might be some smaller mom & pop places in Palm Beach Shores within a couple blocks of Sailfish. I'll look into that. Dockage is also available at the Riviera Beach Marina, but don't know of any motels close by on the mainland, and I would not recommend walking around in Riviera Beach after dark anyway! BTW, a water taxi makes trips to Peanut Island from both the Sailfish and Riviera Beach Marina's during the day, so folks would NOT need a boat to come to this gathering, even if you were camping! There is never any shortage of boats at these gatherings, so if you need a ride, that's not a problem!
I checked on the motel next to the North Palm Beach Marina today. It's the Camelot Motor Lodge, 1000 U.S. Hwy 1, just south of the Parker Bridge over the ICW, and 100 yds or so up the hill from marina. My buddy Harry has stayed there before; it's not fancy, maybe about 20 rooms, but it's clean, has a swimming pool and is in a nice area. There is a new restaurant on the premises, plus the NPB Country Club is right across the street, with a dining room open to the public. Asked the manager Michael about rates for June and he quoted me a rate of $59/night. Phone is 561-626-7200. You might be able to negotiate a better rate for specific dates/number of days, etc. They don't have a web site, but I could get some photos of the place if anyone is interested. Also checked with the marina to see if they had any open/transient slips available, as it's typically full this time of year. The dockmaster said they have transient slips available, at $1.75/ft/day. Denny

Spoke w/ Kathy today and you can reserve 2 sites per call. The office is open `til 9pm and you can come by boat on Fri. night to get beach sites. The beach sites are tide dependent. No full moon.
Stopped by the Sailing Club and they have room, but it`s all filled with puffers. Went by the Flotilla Club and they have roooooom. Neat folks too. They are having a board meeting in 3 weeks and will confirm. Mark, my contact, thinks we`re in like flint. How many will need rig storage? How many local boats will attend? Our Northern Brethren must be seething. Covered in two stories of snow, with time on their hands, and they still can`t pull it off. Now I have to do some bright work. ![]() Cheers to all, GFS |
