Default Double conversions

I saw comments about a double conversion (cuddy/I/O) to center console with outboard bracket. I am sure they were discussing one of my son's boats. This is a popular conversion in Florida where he bought it when on vacation. (To add to his collection of SeaCrafts.) It would be improved with a removable deckplate between the front bunks which become seats in this conversion. The thing that struck me recently was how similar this boat looks to a new Contender with its built-in bracket and high (and dry)transom. Looking at the cost comparison this conversion starting with a good hull with a junked I/O and a ragged out cabin may be worth considering.

My son is actually a reformed four boat man, thanks to a 12 step program aka an addition to the house. In last two months he sold and bartered a 23 ft. '75 Sceptre (#1) and a 20 ft. 72 or 74 c/c (#2). Too bad he didn't know about this website. They were classic seacrafts unlike the 20 double conversion (#3). He and I co-own (#4) a 1966 19 ft walk-through which I have considered converting to a c/c, but it is in good shape, so probably won't since I don't know how it would turn out.
