not who you asked for, but
I have a '73 Seafari 20', and the step down area has two small holes, in each back corner, about 1/2" in size, that allow that to drain down into the bilge.
I don't know if they are original, or added by the previous owner, but yeah, there would have to be some way for that to drain, or the water would run forward into the cabin. Bill |

Re: question for botapeje or Frfrank
The cabin sole area in the cockpit has 3 drain holes on my Seafari, and they go into the bilge. I have two 3/8" hole in the corners (which clog with a potato chip), and a 1" hole in the center rear of the sole area into which I put a folding drainplug. I also have two 750 gph bilge pumps, both with float switches, although the switches are mounted at different heights, one 2" higher than the other.

Re: question for botapeje or Frfrank
Mine's the same, 2 small holes in each back corner of the area drianing straight into the bilge. I made them a bit bigger because they got clogged very easily with just about anything, even bugs! My boat has only 3 thruhulls, 2 on the right upper side for both pumps and one in the transom for the bilge drain. The one thruhull in the front left side that drained the anchor locker is disconnected now and I may get rid of it altogether.
By the way guys, what are you guys using that front compartment where the original holding tank used to be for? Looks like a good place for a very small A/C like the ones from Marineair and Cruisair. Anyone think of this before? I think you can install an a/c there and run the power cord aft to a receptacle where you can plug in a very quiet Honda genset at night for some very comfortable overnighting. What do you think?
