Newbie
proud new owner of 74' 20cc. pics to come. been reading all the posts. amazing work. my transom has some flex when i jump on the motor. been really lookin at this job by caymanboy. my floor is solid, dont really want to cut the whole cap out. Just lookin for some opinions/tips. is going from the outside as strong as going from the inside? Also I have the baitwell back there but was planning on getting rid of it. Anyway lookin forward to meeting those of you coming to Key Largo in April. Im just a few blocks away.

Re: Newbie
Welcome to the site! Carla called me the other night to tell me about someone she had just met with a red Seafari and it sounds like you're the one! This group is one great bunch of folks and I'm sure you'll enjoy meeting them at Carla's in early April. Will look forward to meeting you!
Don Herman, who's the moderator of this repair thread, is a professional fiberglass guy who filled in my transom and installed one of his fiberglass brackets. My transom was ok, but I think he prefers doing a transom repair from the outside as it's much easier and quicker that way; shouldn't be any difference in strength. The trick is to leave about 3" of original skin all the way around the edge so you have a good reference for fairing the new surface to.

Re: Newbie
Welcome ehandte ... glad you were able to finally log in! It'll be great meeting a neighbor at the gathering.
On the red Seafari, Skip & I were eating at a dockside restaurant, and blocks down I saw a boat coming up the canal with the very distinctive cabin shape ... a Seafari! We had just finished dinner, so took a drive & chatted with the owner while he washed down his boat ... a 74 bought new by his uncle. (Welcome Nail24 to the site) If he can make it back down to the keys in time, he too will be coming to "The Gathering".
