Default My 23' Rebuild

I've been asked by several folks for some pics of my rebuild from spring 09'. The hull is an 87' 23.
Thanks. [image][/image]

Thanks for sharing. I always liked this boat

Couple of questions.

What type of resin and cloth did you use for the transom?

Also how much resin was used in the transom area?

thanks

We used polyester resin I'm pretty sure. I have no idea how much for the transom alone, my guess would be 3-5 gallons??? I did watch them and they sqeegees alot. We used about 18 or so for the whole project including deck, console, etc.- alot was wasted. I used my buddys glass man for most of the glass and paint work while he was rebuilding his boat yard after hurricane Ike, so I really dont know the specifics of the glass #'s and so on. I do know that the transom has 2 layers of 3/4" marine okume snadwiched with 3 layers of glass between each, the skin, and outter layer. The corners have alot, I'm thinking 6 layers, I wanted the glass to overlap onto the hull sides and transom at least 1/2 the width of a whole role (18+" on each side of the corner?). It was built it to withstand the pressure/stress of twins on a bracket, and to handle the choppy Texas GOM. The bulk head in the anchor locker was also removed and rebuilt as well.

Alot of work was done to the console, you can see the console in the first pic before we started on it, there were alot of holes that we filled, I wanted a clean boat, so it took alot of work.

Hey Richard - looks great - I sent you an email with a few questions (including which airport to fly into!) I'll try to call sometime this week. Bill C. in PA.

What year was this hull? Looks like the original waterline stickers from the trackers.
