Tsunami 23' teak rod holder removal - options?

I took off the original teak rod holders mounted under the gunnels today to clean them really good - and to compound and wax behind them.

I realized how much more space there is with them GONE !

I think I want them "bye-bye" !

I do use the rod holders all the time, but the shelves are really a waste for me. I'd rather the additional space.

Anyone remove these and what did you use in it's place for rod storage ? Pix a bonus...

Another option would be for me to be able to store rods upright somehow... Anyone have a nice set-up of this ?

Do you have a T-top? I have teak rod holders under the top that work well. If you don't what about rod racks on your console? That would give you the upright storage.

As far as pics - I'm not uncovered yet, sorry.

I have no solution but will offer to take those rod holders off of your hands should you choose to say bye-bye.

On the Seafari I have a radar arch with six rod holders on it, and love that set up. They are up and out of the way, yet easily accessible when you come across some boiling fish. I also put some Lee's on the back of the seats for more storage. They are fine for riding out or trolling alone but rods need to be moved for live baiting 'cause of the small deck. Not a problem on a Tsunami...

How bout lee's for the side (replace teak holders and the two shelves) and/or a removable rocket launcher (on engine cover) if you have I/O

The rod holders are made by Taco. They are "screwless" & "spring loaded"

i used 1/2" starboard for mine,used the same pattern just stop it short at bottom so my toe wouldn't hit it and easy to clean [image][/image]
