Default 2000 Evirude 150

I see a 1985 20 MA on NY CL but it has a 2000 150 Evinrude with low hrs. Isn't that a ficht engine or one produced during the "bad" OMC era? The engine has me worried before I proceed to contact the seller.

Could be a Ficht or a carbed smallblock v6 looper that was first introduced in the early 90's.... If it is then it's a 350lb. Reliable gas guzzler and a great motor. If it's a ficht and it is in good workin order then it will probably be fine. A buddy of mine is a dealer and he's always saying when they were good they were fine for the most part, but some others would have repetitive failures. I would take the serial # to a brp dealer just to see if there were any repairs under warranty from omc in there system or the local servicing dealer at the time if possible. It seems like there are a lot of issues with some of the early merc optimax's and the ethanol also.

There are plenty of great SC's out on the market for all different budgets if you're willing to search and travel some so don't fall in love on the first date.

2000 Johnson's were carb . . . 2000 Evinrudes were fichts. If it has the air cooled computer it's bad news.

Thanks guy's, I'm pretty sure it's a ficht but these MA's are hard to find so I guess I'll check it out a little closer.

yes they are, maybe don't more for the motor than you can sell it for

do a search on that motor for recent prices when you find out what it is - the carbed motors are good motors
