Default Ideas for 20' Cruiser

This may be blasphemy but I do not fish. We like to cruise the South Carolina coast looking for wildlife and beach combing. Just finished a Montauk 17 restore and am looking for a project. I saw a 1970 Seacraft 20 in Charleston last weekend that looked gorgeous. Been thinking all week that a 20 would make a nice addition to my fleet.

Question - does anyone have some pictures of boats that have been set up for cruising and not fishing. Looking for some type of raised forward area, teak decks, popup table, etc.

Thanks

Welcome aboard to a very educational forum! Although I do some fishing and a lot of diving, I've done LOTS of cruising for the last 39 years in my Seafari, including half a dozen trips to the Abaco's in the eastern Bahamas back in the late 70's/early 80's! You won't find a more comfortable, versatile, seaworthy, and easily trailerable cruiser than the 20' Seafari. http://www.moeslyseacraft.com/20-seafari.html Check out this link http://www.classicseacraft.com/commu...hns+River+trip which contains slide shows for a couple of more recent trips around Fl. and down the St. Johns River.

If you're used to a Whaler you will be amazed at how much softer the ride is in any SeaCraft! If you want to do some serious cruising, forget the CC models and look for a Seafari! An added bonus is that since most of the guys on this site are only into fishing and don't appreciate the unique capabilities of the Seafari, so they can often be found for thousands less than the CC models, even though only about 700 were built by Moesly and Potter for 10 years starting in 1969!

The real blasphmey is that some Seafari's have been butchered in a very expensive attempt to convert them to a structurally compromised CC model!

A good friend of mine who owns the yellow Seafari in this link http://www.moeslyseacraft.com/proud-...0-seafari.html now lives in the Greenville, SC area. If you'll send me a PM with an e-mail address, I'll be glad to send him a note with your contact info. He does a lot of water skiing and I'm sure he'd be glad to give you a ride! Denny

What Bushwacker said & more,

As past original owner of my son's 79 Model 20" Seafari, I can attest to all of the above with the addition of some super Speckle & Red fishing trips, numerous diving adventures, water skiing trips and countless shrimping trips in the Gulf of Mexico. I could not possibly have chosen a better all around boat for my family!

In fact my daughter & son are prodding me now to return it to it's former glory to make some more memories......
