Hurricane Florence effected members check in thread
Starting this thread so members can check in on this thread that are victims or effected by Hurricane Florence. North Carolina and South Carolina has gotten rocked by the hurricane this week / weekend and I would like to hear from you guys effected to make sure everyone made it threw ok. As the waters rise the conditions may get worse with the rivers here in NC set to crest at the end of this up coming week. Many were devastated and have lost everything. I was lucky to walk away with minimal damages. Few fallen trees and the 25 seafari was on its side after winds pushed it off of large timbers it was blocked up on. No damage to the hull. We were lucky and more so Blessed to have the little amount of damage as we have had. I may end up replacing my roof as I lost a lot of shingles but hopefully insurance will help with that. If there is anything I can do for other members up here let me know so I can help. I am limited to what I can do but Im sure others up here will be glad to help if lead to do so. Hope and prayers goes out to all of our local effected members of the storm...

I reached out to Uncle Boo last night and he said you were closer to the real threat, glad to hear of your good luck. I’m no longer involved in Rescue work but have the ability to make a run up there to help with supplies, saw work, even just visit a couple of shelters with my (non-certified) Therapy Golden. Just don’t know where to start. Waiting to hear from a college buddy who stayed in Wilmington. Had contact throughout storm, which was a bonus, however don’t imagine I could get to him for quite a few days. Standing by. Be Strong!

Thanks for the response. I was wondering about Boo, he is north of me a little. Glad he is ok. Wilmington was of the worse hit. North of there got better the further away you got. Due to the slow moving nature of the storm (way slower than most) the massive amounts of rain fall and storm surge flooded a lot of places that never have flooded before. Upwards of 500 people had to be rescued that didn't evacuate. Many say they should of left but when you never seen the water rise in you area before you don't think you have the risk of flooding. Most have been rescued now but the river may rise again once it crest Thursday and it may happen all over again. Praying for the best possible outcome. Prayers needed...

Happy to hear that our Carolina members came through with out any serious
damage.... Waiting to hear from Jimbo ? 77sceptreOB... I can tell you this, Jr. and I ran the "NoBones" up I-95 today to her offsite storage facility 40 miles up the road and all we saw were SC, NC & Tenn. license plates making the north bound trek !! Keep us posted if there is anything we could help with if needed...

Fortunately here in Greenville, SC, Florence was pretty much a non-event. A bit windy at times, rained mostly all day, but pretty much a drizzle. I over prepared the yard, deck, and the Seafari is in covered storage nearby. Over preparing is better than the alternative. Our thoughts and prayers are with those less fortunate. Got some pics of daughter’s young family fishing off of Stuart this weekend, glad to see she and her busband investing their time like we did.

All good me and mine here in the CHS area as well. Both boats rode out the storm comfortable in my driveway. Only thing that suffered damage was my waist and liver.
Prayers out to all those further North who weren't as fortunate. |
