Default IF I HAD TO DO IT OVER AGAIN I WOULD

Well I splashed my boat for the first time one year ago after spending lots of time (150 days) and lots of $$$ rebuilding my 23 CC and about this time in all project boat builders experience one would come to the place and say “If I had to do it all over again I would do this or that different” well I figured that the guys that are now starting or in the middle of their boat projects might be interested in our hind sights so I figured I would start this one off for the benefits of those who are starting their dream boats.
1. I would buy more beer not nearly enough beer went into my project.
2. I bought a loadmaster trailer if I had that one over again I would have bought the stainless steel disk brakes for it. I got everything else stainless but no one brought up stainless brakes I am not sure they were selling them then but I missed that one.
3. I would have gone with one of the new composite materials for the transom. When I did mine that decision was still a coin toss decision.
As for all the rest I would not do anything different. NOW YOU GUYS JUMP IN ON THIS ONE.

Can you expand a bit on why you would go with a composite transom next time around? I assume you went with wood, are you already having troubles with it?

thanks/

A lack of appropriate quantities of beer not only has severe consequences in rebuilding a SeaCraft, but it shows. There is nothing worse than being sober while doing this work.

Let's see, 150 days, what, maybe 3 beers minimum per session? Plus the 25 six packs your buddies drank. Oh, my, that's 25 CA-CA-CA-CASES.

You're my HERO

WELL,WELL,WELL,,,,, I MAY NOT KNOW A DAMN THING ABOUT BOAT BUILDING/RESTORING,KEN. BUT EARLY ON IN MY PROJECT,I TOOK OUT ALL THE SHELVE'S IN MY GARAGE FRIDGE, AND STUCK IN A KEG OF MICHELOB LIGHT! BUT IT WAS THE WIFE THAT GAVE ME THE IDEA TO DRILL A HOLE IN THE DOOR AND RUN THE TAP THROUGH IT. HAD TO SPRING FOR A CO.2 SET UP TO PREASERISE THE KEG, BUT THE WIFE SAID,,,,AND I QUOTE "AT THE RATE YOUR GOING,THE HINGES WILL BREAK OFF BEFORE THE COOLER GIVE'S OUT" YOU'VE GOT TO LISTEN TO THAT KIND OF REASONING I SUPPOSE ANYHOW I'M JUST GLAD TO KNOW THAT I'M DOING SOMETHING RIGHT,AND I HOPE EVERYONE ELSE WILL LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKE LIKE I'VE ALWAY'S SAID,,, THE BAIT'LL ROT,BEFORE I LET THE BEER GET WARM,,,,,, AS ALWAY'S LT DAN
