Comment on your SeaCraft
Hello All!
OK, first off, I am a proud owner of a 23' CC and it is one of the most satisfying experiences to have someone drool over MY boat! That is a welcome change for I have done my fair share of drooling!! SeaCraft owners are great fisherman and boatmen in general and what a terrific forum for us to brag about our boat. I'll share two quick stories to get things rolling. This spring I backed into the ramp in town when it was blowing 20 outta the southwest. Snotty, but not awful. I asked the guy hauling his Boston Whaler 22 if it was bad out there. He looked at my SC and said, "You'll be just fine if that's you're boat" Just a few days ago, I had a guy in my marina come over and aske me about my SC23. He wanted to know everything about it. I told him what I could as I have only a few months underway with it. The best part is he stepped off of his 35 Bertam to talk to me. When I tried to be polite and asked him about what is truly a great boat, his Bertram, he ignored me and asked more about the SC..... Looks like a winner to me folks.....Hooper. Wanna BRAG a BIT??????????? |

Re: Comment on your SeaCraft
Hooper - I know what you mean, every single time I run the boat I get comments.People love the classic lines, they can't believe it's a 73.I don't think there's another boat in this size class that has the eye appeal.
I have a friend with an old 38 Bert that is really nice. One day I'm cruising out of the harbor and he is ready to cast off for some bluefishing with a doctor friend of his.I had my 2 sons with me, and my buddy says to his friend "you want a real treat, lets go with Bill".We hammered the blues, and I was working like a mate - this doc had the day of his life.Things got pretty snotty and we were rolling while chunkin, but on the way in, with a big following sea those 2 big guys just sat in front of the console and were amazed at the ride and how quick we could run in with those seas. And the best thing is that this boat ain't fancy, but it didn't cost me an arm and a leg, and it's paid for. I think it's a keeper. |

Re: Comment on your SeaCraft
I like to brag about mine a little bit too, just not too loud because when I had my former boat (a 23 Mako inboard) I used to call us "seacraft snobs" but was quietly a little jealous. So went the opportunity presented itself, I became one although I try to remember what it was like before and how people used to look down their noses at everybody else around here and I will not be that type of person. Nuff said
What I find interesting is that I have now had mine for 6 years, I have offers to buy it monthly even though she is not for sale. I currenntly have one person calling weekly (If he calls and offers me"Big Money" Ill take it and then go get me another one)but he wont let it go as of now. 90% of all my fishing buds fish old seacrafts, 1 was trying to find one , couldnt , but found and old 23 formula and restored it and now has a great platform. I am very proud of my boat and even if the inboard is not the fastest one around, those that run by me right outside the inlet are soon behind me while Im chuggin along in comfort . Some of the "other big name brands" just a poundin. lol, I learned. Oh , forgot to add , i was at a local function we do for special kids last Sunday and I walked over to chack out a local radio show host new 26'Cat boat (Catchin with Capn Reese, sat mornings 6 to 8 am 850 on your AM dial). This is a brand new boat rigged to the 9's and all I have been hearing is how nice a ride , etc etc etc. Anyhow's someone asked me if I would trade my SC for this boat. I kinda looked at it with hmmmm, looks real nice, my consider it.(80K in this boat)Anyways I was met with lpooks of surprise and gasps that I would even consider it. (One was a local outdoors writer for local paper who was on the boat). I know better now!!!! Sorry for the long post, cheers!!! [ July 19, 2002, 09:58 AM: Message edited by: Miles Offshore ]

Re: Comment on your SeaCraft
I may have mentioned this earlier but here’s some of my observations and experiences
I worked on several large Sportfishing boats all through high school and college. As a result of this and being on and around real quality Sportfishing boats including Bertram, Viking, Davis, Merritt and Rybovich’s all meticulously maintained you get a true sense of what’s good and what’s not ….All of these owners always spoke very highly of SeaCrafts as a boat they would own…. and the bigger point is that these guys could have anything they wanted and did. So in listening very carefully I learned it was one of the best boat designs out there…just looking at the lines of the boat says volumes. Now when I go back to that marina and I see some of my old acquaintances and they ask what I have ……. Its always greeted with high approval. Billybob I agree with you on the simple factor…..as with many of the boat mentioned above they were all clean , uncluttered and functional …… And that’s what I want for mine. Sometimes things were not the most practical …..but we always figured ways around it (mainly storage issues) . Some people like everything including the kitchen sink on the boat …… I think my past owner was one of them….boat had more holes topside than Swiss cheese. Me … the more simple the better Miles …Me Too!!!!! To the point that the Marina even called me one day and asked if I wanted to sell as a patron of the marine said there was a For Sale sign on my boat……NOT MY BOAT!!!! Just goes to show some people will do anything for one of these hulls. |
