Scuppers - No drilling, no filling

I used Miles idea by filling in scupper area with solid polyester.

I hadn't removed the drain tubes until I did the bottom. When doing so, I decided not to use the factory setup but to do as Miles Offshore did by creating a solid tube of resin.

I waxed up some 1/2" PVC pipe with butchers wax (any type will do), used duct tape with an "X" cut in it to allow the PVC to go through. Also added a 1/2" coupler to make the top of the opening slightly larger than the bottom (not sure why I did that). After putting the PVC in the hole, I poured in polyester resin with chopped glass and milled fibers. Once the stuff was in the hole, I pushed the tube down and level with the bottom of the cockpit drain. I also waxed the area around the hole so I any stuff gets on there, It will peel right off. Once it sets up, the PVC will pull right out, and I'll have the hole where I wanted it. You can see just how close the hole was to the edge of that deck putty. It sure wasn't in the middle.

Thx for the pix on the scupper repair. I am going to do that the same way ! By the way, what is purpose of the glassed in "box-like" thing that is located under the glob of factory goo ?

Nice job there E!!! Looks a lot better than mine cosmetically. I tested to see how mine drains when under way a coupldays ago and it drains fine at all speeds exceppt slower speeds when the ass end is squating. Will fix that next time I haul her. Pretty work there bud!!! Craig

A couple of questions . Did you pull the old copper tube out? Did you enlarge the hole? how did you pour the resin in between the pvc and deck?

The wedge below the deck compound glob is a piece of glassed in wood, to give support to the tube.

Yes, I knocked out the Plastic thru-hull. I did not make the whole any larger. When I mixed up the resin with chopped glass and milled fibers, I put in enough resin to make it pourable. You can wiggle the PVC to get in there and pour it.
