Battery's getting moved need opinions.......
If anybody's out ther tonight I'm moving my battery's tommorrow morning and I'm seeking the ever valuable CSC opinions. My new 140 Suzuki is about seventy poinds heavier than the old engine. I've decided to move my dual batts forward. I noticed that the boat gets over the hump at a differant place than before and the bow seems to be a little lighter than before. I had decided on putting them under the console but now I'm thinking if putting them under the front seat to save room under the console(my favorite place to put stuff). Most of the wiring is in and I have enough to go to either location. Each location has plusses and the only thing I don't like about putting them under the seat is mounting the straps to the floor and having to drill some hole in my deck but they would be easily accesible there also. I still don't know where to put them but either way they will be done so the boat will be in the water tommorrow. I guess putting them under the saet will help even more seeing as they are more forward then under the console. Any body mount the under the seat out there?

Re: Battery's getting moved need opinions.......
On my '73 20ft the holes are in the fuel tank hatch, so it was okay with me.
By the way, can you give performance numbers for before and after and what were the two power plants? |

If you mean under the seat that is part of the console, yes, my batteries were in that location on my 18' and will be going there on the 20' eventually.

Jon,
That's where I put the 2 Groug 27's and the locking switch, worked out great and makes them much more accessable for maintainence.

Re: Battery's getting moved need opinions.......
Guys I tried the batts in both spots and found the boxes would not fit under my seat. I put them under the console. The last owner put a full width shelf under the console and the batts sit on this nice and dry. I found myelf needing to trim my old engine a 115merc up to get it out of the water and found that the new engine(Suzuki 140) needed to be trimmed down to keep it in the water. I moved the batts and it just right. A little trim in either direction and its just right. I'm suprised how much the boot stripe came up after moving them, the boat gets over the hump and flattens out sooner so I'm happy
