Foam in stringers
Hi CSC's, I recently aquired a '75 20cc and was cleaning it out this weekend and I noticed that the stringers are filled with a yellowish foam. Did these boats come with the foam factory installed or were the stringers originally wood? Also, I notice that some sections of the stringers have water. Anyone recomend any techniques to get the water out besides taking apart the whole boat?

My 1969 20 has hollow fiberglass stringers as I think most older seacrafts have, my stringers have drain holes near the transom...jack the nose of the boat up and the water runs to the back and into the bilge.

When I re did my boat it was out of the water for 1 year. During that time I drilled some holes in the stringers in arrears that I thought might have some water in them and before I closed up the bottom of the boat I filled in the holes with epoxy. I did get a little water out of one of the holes I drilled the holes just incase. As for the foam I think all Potters and beyond had foam filled stringers in them.
