My bottom revisited - here's the plan
I hope some of you guys will find this interesting even though you'll never have to do it (I hope).
First off, Scott thanks for the Mertons suggestion.Joe is a nice guy and knows his stuff and he has pretty good prices too. I'm going with Biax stitchmat and vinylester resin, then I'll fair, barrier coat and bottom paint. I got all the stuff, so there's no turning back. Pulled the boat off the trailer and laid it on it's side.Hopefully, I'll get a lot of it done this weekend. Here's a couple pics, so you can get a better idea. . . . . It shouldn't be too tough. I'll post some progress pics as I ah progress. One more question: How much beer do I need? Bill |

Re: My bottom revisited - here's the plan
Are you just going to hand lay it or vacuum bag it?
To help you keep things clean. Run a piece of visqueen and duct tape it below where the repair is. That way you pull the tape and throw the mess away, rather than sanding the run's of resign off. |

Re: My bottom revisited - here's the plan
My kid crashed the puter at home, but it's up now.
I finished the bottom. Went with biax stitchmat and vinylester resin. It's all barrier coated and painted and the motor goes on this weekend. I can't wait to get fishing. It was a PIA, especially trying to get our beloved Seacraft strakes straight. But it came out o.k. Here's a pic with it all prepped for barrier coat: Bill |
