sized surfaces
Anyone normally size (coat of resin) the faces of plywood or composite materials prior to using them in a transom rebuild? I was talking to a boatbuilder acquaintance the other day and he mentioned that he always does it, especially with the composites. If it is a good idea, does it make any difference if you ar eusing epoxy vs regular resin?

Re: sized surfaces
interesting that i just talked to one of the maker of composite core and the recommed that the core be coated first (primed). this would avoid the panel sucking in all the resing. sound like a good idea with the use of polyster laminating resin. if you use wax or epoxy, remember to sand between application.
