'72 20' Seacraft

I am looking for info on the restoration process. Does anyone give estimates? I am considering restoring it for resale or selling as is. The hull is intact, the floor has some cracks(it probably needs to be pulled) and the transom is braced with a solid piece of aluminum.

I would say that restoring it for resale is a losing proposition especially if you are going to pay someone to do any of it.

It will be interesting to see what others have to say, but that is my opinion, especially in this market.

If you do it yourself you would be better off keeping and using it. Usually you can break even $$ wise but it is hard to buy back all the long, sweating hours..

if you want to sell it dump it the way it is. you will lose money any other way. Being that the decks are shot and the transom needs to be redone. I hate to be blunt but there is alot work there for anyone, and alot of money to be spent making it a boat again.

Take these guys word for it.

Of all the things you can buy, repair, and sell for a profit........a boat is not one of them. You will never break even, not even close if you have to do a full restore.

There is some money to be made in used boats however yours does not sound like one of them. A transom and a floor are considered integral and necessary components of a functional boat. Any money that you would put into replacing the transom and floor of a boat would not be money you could expect to see a return on.

Now lets say you were to find a great deal on a SeaCraft in good structural condition with some minor dings and cracks here and there fix it up and slap some new paint on it and then some shiny new hardware and a decent motor and offer it for re- sale then you might be able to make a few dollars off it. key word MIGHT be able to. Best bet would be just to hang on to it till boat prices go back up.
