23 Seacraft inboard rebuild
Just started a total rebuild on a 1977 23 with a 230hp Yanmar in it. The rebuild will include pulling the topcap and liner for recoring, digging out the wet foam in the stringers and pouring new foam, hinging the console and adding hydraulic rams to raise it, the Awlgripping the entire boat. Here are a few pics so far.

Re: 23 Seacraft inboard rebuild
Dave,
I am the owner ... I have done some minor fiberglass work on this boat but this project was out of my league so I enlisted the help of a professional. Performance ... top speed is (was) 33 knts. When the boat comes back together with fresh coring and foam I would expect to pick up a little speed and reduce my time to plane. Mike |

Re: 23 Seacraft inboard rebuild
Congratulations! That's going to be a hell of a nice boat. What was your cruise speed before the work started? And what kind of fuel burn? It seems like the 23' with the yanmar should be an ideal combination.

Re: 23 Seacraft inboard rebuild
One more thing... make sure you get that console attached really well and braced as it will have a lot of stress on it. Pay special attention to the way it will handle side-to-side loads since the front and back of the console are basically open and don't provide much strength. I've noticed a lot of flex and creaking on my inboard cc (25 whitewater) when drifting in slop with the t-top snapping back and forth.
