Default question about raising cockpit floor (stability)

I am rebuilding a 233 formula and hopefully you guys can offer some advise. I was thinking of raising the floor five or six inches to allow room for some fish boxes in the floor and to make it easier to gaff fish etc.... Do you think this is a good idea or would it affect the balance of the boat? Thanks very much for any input you can give.

I don't think it will hurt you much unless you break down and are drifting in really bad conditions. That's where the high gunwale is really nice for safety on that boat. It'll keep you in if you tumble. The 24 deg deadrise on that hull is a rocker on the drift.

Here's a link to another guy who a restored 233 - nice boats I like them. Especially the older ones.

A lot of these guys have raised their decks 3 to 4 inches but usually they did it to improve the self draining capabilities. Maybe some of them will chime in. Maybe re-posting with more emphasis on stability and safety effects raising the floor rather than non SeaCraft question Good luck.

You could always save yourself a ton of time and cash and buy yourself a set of nice platform shoes.
