Default Moesly Seacraft 21 update

Thanks to the invaluable help and guidance from WildlandJeff and his brother John (who are restoring a Seavette hull), we pulled the the engine on the Moesly Seacraft 21 Saturday, replaced the engine coupler, and put it all back together Sunday. Monday the 21 finally made it from trailer to the dock under power. Third times's a charm

Powered off the dock out the basin and into the bay, and left the bay for the Pacific. More importantly, we returned without incident. Idled around the bay for a good while and then bugged out for open water without feeling "loaded up."

Jeff removed the fog bell while dodging lobster pots at the point

Having some fuel issues, but it has no problem firing with a little drip of fuel down a carb or a little spray in the flame arrester.

Had a lot of cavitation and trim tabs made it worse at times. Have one more pin to go inward so I'll move the drive in this week. Trim tabs are on the center strakes -- I think getting them out on the edge where they belong will help, and a prop change will all help a lot.

Fuel was really old and carbs need to be cleaned and synced so performance was nothing to talk about. I think John measured 23 mph on his android gps although it felt a little faster at times.

Hoses are all tired and need to be replaced. If anyone knows of a good source for Old Mercruiser Chevy L6 block, please advise.

Steering is really tough so either the rack is worn out or the cables are. Rack is original Kiekhaefer ride guide and the cable looks decent. Maybe change 'em both and not sweat it for a while. That being said, it turns really comfortably without tipping, but it rolls more than I expected and is pretty sensitive to passenger movement.

Here are a couple of viddys:

Cheers,
Gillie

Default Great!

Pretty dang cool... However the first thing I would get rid of is the fog bell . At first I thought you were getting ready to run into a buoy.lol

As far as hoses, if no one else chimes in, find and old time auto supply store, pre auto zone and napa, those places have every hose and belt known to man.

Keep up the posting and great to see it out on the water.

PS...get Trayder to change your name back to Mcgillacuddy...then we will know who you are, ha ha.
