Question Prop question

i have a 20 sf and 200 mercury, ive been running a aluminum blackmax prop 19p 14 1/2 diameter and it has always run pretty good, I have just fell into a quicksilver SS Mirage prop that is also 19p but the diameter is 15 1/4
would this be a good upgrade or not? any of you more experianced guys have any insight for me?

thanks.

You have got to be turning alot of rpm's with 14.5 ??
What is your tach showing?? That is very important
not to wind up past 5600 rpm's!! You will toast the motor...

I'm running a 19 X 21 Laser II with a 200 Merc which tops out at 5400 rpm's!

Better look again, Ken. I think maybe that little blue pill might be working OT in your gear case and your prop's girth is swelling. I'm guessing that Laser II is closer to 14" in diameter...

I would.

I'm looking for the same prop with a 17" pitch, I've got the Mercury "vengance" prop and I want to upgrade to the Mirage and see what it will do.

Cool!! I'm still waiting to "fall into" a Mirage myself. The 17" pitch is hard to find in good used condition for minimum dollars (I'm a cheap bastard). Good luck!
