Default Size of leaning post

I'm looking into getting a leaning post for my 20MA
I like the look and prices for a new one with under neath storage that cutting edge boat tops out of Ft Myers offers @$595

www.cuttingedgeboattops.com/Leaning-Post.html

My question how wide do I go

My console is 36" wide ...do I match the size of the console or go smaller.

How far back from the console do I place it? 3m 4200 or 5200 ? screwed in or bolted?

Anything else to look for?

Overbore and use the dowel method. Mock it up about 20 times. I mocked for my skinny azz. Can you taste the finish??? Wanna buy a slightly used sheep?

Cheers,
Sandy

My two cents, if you go with a foot rest, get the folding one so when your standing it does not hit you in the back of your legs and I'm not too keen on the extended rod holders on the second one, looks like they would be in the way....would make some really nice bruises when you wack 'em with your hips. I'd not go too much wider than the console, maybe 42". Good luck.

Carlos there at cutting edge built a LP for my Whaler he did a great job. I will be going to him for my Seacraft I'll probably go 38" with tray.

I would have thought that you would go a little smaller than the console

So a console that's 36" go with a leaning post of 38" ?

I like the tray that adds some much needed storage to a Open fisherman

Wow. Best prices I've seen anywhere and lifetime warranty. When I get mine I'll go a few inches smaller than the console but no bigger than the console at all. That is why I narrowed the console in the first place, to get more room to walk around. Thanks for the website!!

Birdsall helped me make this decision when I bought one. My 23' console is ~ 36" (I think) and that's what I wanted. He talked me down a size and I'm glad I did. I agree with building a mock-up. I got the 34" (I think), fixed back with 5 rod holders and 4 cup holders between them, storage under seat, folding foot rest. I measured the deck camber and they duplicated that for the mounting plates. First class, quality, and service.

Birdsall is awesome! Their products and people are top notch. Did u go with their "Mini"? I ask because it is reasonably priced.
