1970 20' Center console purchase
I am considering a purchase of a 1970 20' center console. I cant seem to find a catalog or specs for that year. I know it was a transition year and that the 71-80 years saw design changes. Boat was re-done 5 years ago with new transom, bow rail, aluminum gas tank, Garmin dual GPS-FF color unit, VHF, AM-FM and is powered by a 1995 Yamaha 130. Has been rewired and rigged, and has had the hull newly gelcoated and looks beautiful. Deck and & liner are original. Interior needs some TLC, but overall it looks like a sturdy boat. Guy is asking $6000 with the trailer. Is the 1970 CC a Moesly or a Potter Hull?
Sounds like a steal to me, Any input will be very much appreciated. |

I have one of those mine is a 70 but has a lot of the features of a 69..I think both Potter and Mosley were on board at the same time for a bit....My hull id plaque was worn off and the hull number on my title does not match year ,I have owned mine for 28 years now, ..Mine has teak hatch lids ,had the port side transom livewell , drains go out the transom, hull is fl yellow....

The transom was replaced on this boat so the hull number isn't available unless it's somewhere else. Boat is also FY yellow which I assume means faded lemon
(very pretty). |

Do you mean FLY yellow? If so, that's Fighting Lady Yellow. |

Ag yellow was the original yellow used on factory SeaCrafts...
Look at the Scampi that just showed up in Michigan! Fighting Lady Yellow was originally a Hatteras color that took off in the late 70's......

Yes I meant FLY yellow. So it's "Fighting Lady Yellow" Cool! It is a very pretty color. Now if I can get the engine checked out I will buy her. This fellow has let it sit for a year and a half in his yard, so that can't be good for a fuel system or the engine. We will see.

Bought it Saturday for $9,000. Still think it's a good deal. Beautiful boat in beautiful shape, with lots of gear thrown in: skis, tube, anchor, lines, and all USCG required gear etc.
Now have to figure out how to flush out the 1994 Yamaha V4 130 HP. I am told that you can't do this with ear muffs? Can an engine be flushed at the dock in the up position? All help appreciated. |
