Lever drag reel

Thinking about picking up a couple of reels was wondering if anyone had any feed back on Fin-nors SLD20 reels compared to the shimano tld 20 ? The SLD has a lil quicker retreave line cap and drags look about the same

I'm not up on the Fin-Nor, however I've got TLDs on all of my trolling rods 15s, 20s and 25s and I highly recommend. Watch eBay and other fishing/boating forums for deals. I just picked up a pair of TLD20s on eBay (which the wife does not need to know about) for way less than what one new one would cost. Never had one break and they are great for dolphin, sailfish, etc. Good luck!!

I haven't used the Fin-Nors, but the Shimano Triton series is as good a reel as I've used for the money. The TLDs are just tough, reliable reels and parts (the only thing you're likely to need is drag washers) are readily available in my town. We take BFT, YFT, Yellowtail, striped marlin, threshers and makos without worry on 20s and 30s.

know the tlds well was looking for feed back close in price and Fin-nors been around for a long time

I use several old style lever drag Fins and some newer Ahad and one SLD, all good reels.

Fin-Nors in my oppinion have taken a dive in quality over the last ten years and like Penn have outsourced their production to south Asia. The TLDs are good reels but require a considerable amount of maintainance if abused. Still a good choice though.

If your budget can handle it though I can whole heartedly attest that the Shimano Torsa is the end game for a non-custom built reels that will truely elevate the level of enjoyment you get out of fishing. The smallest Torsa I own which is the smallest available (16n) has taken down countless large reef fish and pelagics as big as a 101 lb hoo. They are not cheap but worth every penny considering how valuable my time is on the water.
