Jealous much? Ok, so I recently picked up an electra mate 920 and a Penn 9/0 with wire line. Looks to be SS and not monel. Mint except for the blown out side plate. The reef always wins. So I got a new side plate and bearing/ carrier from Matt @ Lott Bros.
Need Cliff`s notes. Can I deep drop with wire line w/ a top shot of flouro? Have an old Lott 80 class full roller, but need a bent butt and swivel tip. I have some Lee`s rod holders lying around waiting for that other boat ,but do you think I could use a backing plate and not rip the cap off my Slackah? Willing to trade info for delicious sauce recipes. Cheers, GFS |

GFS, Im not sure how well the wire will work, I do know one old school guy who has done it that way. With 3 mph current, the line needs to be narrow or you never get to bottom. The 80 and 100 hollow core are the same diameter and they can be spliced. My previous rod had 130 braid on it and I could not get to bottom even with 17 lbs of weight. Quote:
Its something completely difference from any other type of fishing, another way to enjoy the Ocean

The wire itself is thin. About the dia of copper beak wire.
Fun learning new things. Is that a Dolphin electric? |
