Default New Project Underway

I have been looking for a Potter built 23' for sometime, just havent found any that were really what I was looking for. Came across a 1984 23' that had a like new Hermco floating bracket and a Yamaha 250 OX 66 on it. I decided to go look at it this morning. It had some good things going on. My buddy and I will be doing some work to it and I will certainly be on here looking for different ideas. From what he said it was originally built as a inboard boat but never powered that way. So it has the full transom. Anyway check out the pics. Looking for some input. We want to change the leaning post soon. Also the wood under the tank seems like it was never glassed and is rotted.

Motor fired right up. Sounded good too. We didnt have a compression checker, but those OX 66s are pretty much bullet proof, so we felt good about it. Has a Raymarine e7d, I liked the bracket a lot. Its a 31 year old boat. It needs some work but I think it should be worth it. We are going to rewire it first thing. The transom, stringers, and hull seemed solid. One small spot of rot on the deck (like a 6 inch square) I have never fixed a floor, but I am guessing its like doing hatches. We paid $10,000. I feel comfortable with that price for what we got. Lots of extras thrown in too.

Ya i/o. Man I am so pumped. Ready to get it to the shop and tear into it. Expecting my first kid by the end of the month. Held off buying one because of it. This deal came up and my best friend and I went in 50-50. Will be good to get out of the house and work on it a few hours here and there. Had to do it because we felt it was a good deal.

So as these things go, we started working on it and got a little further, then said we are now this far may as well keep going. We are making new deck lids and fixing a couple of pieces on the floor that are delaminated. Then gel coating the inside, fresh awlgrip on the outside. Hoping to have her buttoned up by spring.
