Default Marathon NON fishing report

I hope non of the other CSC folks were down there last week dolphin fishing. It was the worst I've ever seen it in over 30+ years fishing down there. We had three boats at our place and my brother's buddy had his a few miles from us, total dolphin caught for four boats for the whole week.....five. I did have a few "firsts" on this trip, 1. first time I have ever been skunked, 2. first time I've ever been skunked two days in a row and 3. first time I've been skunked three days in a row.

The charter Captians were also coming in with zero and the big catch I saw Thursday was four schoolies, which was his best day in five straight, and he got those 50 miles out in 2500'.

It was ugly!!! I did the math and our three boats used just over 500 gallons of fuel.

No need to ask if I was happy!!!!

Same report from the west end. Found birds, weed lines and drift wood....... Nothing. At least we had conch and tequila.

Well Rusty it can't get worse! Good luck. Little bit of info, we never had wind from the east, only the north and west.....the kiss of death down there.

I don't think I saw one since around January. About 2 years ago, they were thick here in the middle of July. So maybe there's still hope.

Same here in spring.
Wonder if the spill has affected spawning grounds

If El Ninio is affecting the atlantic like the pacific, your cobia are sunning somewhere off hatteras... in fact i recently read some cobia were being farmed off ecuador and are now off colombia and the west side of panama heading north. I don't see the problem taking root as far north as SD but it could generate an invasive population off mex and in the sea of cortez which could prove detrimental...

Out west we're already in september. went out last Sunday cuz we heard some nice bft were being caught near shore. ran out on buddy's whaler and scored this guy about 25 miles out on a slow trolled green mackerel. went 120 after bleeding.
