Default 275-300 Verado?

Anybody have any experience and/or performance numbers on a 23 hull powered by a Verado? Considering a 275 or 300.

I've tried some searching on here and only found threads from '04-05 when Verados first came out, and one for sale ad for a 23 with a 275 on it.

I think Joshmon71 is running a gen1 250 or 275. Worth a search.

Thanks. This is the last thread I've found re: Verados. However, no real performance data on cruise & WOT speeds or fuel burn, just that 275 is great.

I tend to like specific details in my research before haphazardly dropping thousands of dollars...

That's alright though. The cost of Verado rigging components has sort of turned me off to them, unless I come across a good full package deal in the next day or two.

I think all modern 4 strokes will achieve similar fuel burn. Set up properly you can expect 48-52 mph top end. Different motors have a sweet spot. 2.75-3.25mpg is the norm 25-35 mph. Bracket will perform better also.

There is a merc performance bulletin for a 250 Verado on a 23 seacraft. I owned the same boat and saw the same performance. So 275 and 300 will be slightly better. In my opinion, I would not get a first gen Verado.
