Hermco bracket engine height

Hey guys just looking for some feedback I installed a bracket on my 23 last year and this was the first run. Engine looks low to me but I'm not sure. This was a loaded bot full 50 gal livewell and 4 people I usually fish with me and other person. I have one hole left to raise it up.

The pictures arnt great but maybe someone can give me an idea if I'm in the neighborhood or not.

Too low to me. Bushwhacker had a good way to see the AV plate-black electrical tape on the top to see it right above the water.

Thank you I had a feeling it was way to low. I hope the last hole gets me high enough I don't want to put a jack plate on it.

I just got through mounting a Hermco on Jr's 23 Sceptre with a new
25" Suzuki 300 HP !

We are dead nuts with the mounting after his sea trial.
One hole up on the bracket. 5.75 inches from the bottom
of the boat to the plate.....

Simple geometry.

Although my experience with a Hermco bracket is on a 20, I suspect you may need a jack plate! Check out post #4 in this old thread about motor height.

Are you running on plane in that pic or plowing? At Don's recommend mounting height with Yam 300 in the bottom hole I'm right on on my 23

This was taken on plane.


Bushwhacker any recommendation on a jack plate I would assume the least set back and greatest height adjustment.

Thanks again all. I plan on bumping it up to the last hole and seeing what it looks like then.

Any other tips would be great

Yes, you generally want to minimize setback to avoid having a boat CG that's too far aft! Vance Mfg. makes some inexpensive manual jackplates with 3 and 4 inch setback. The JPL4300 model with 4" lift got my motor up where it needs to be.
