Default Console modification

I have a original Seacraft console that I would like to do the following modification.
I want get rid of the flange that goes around the bottom of th console. I think it would give it a better modern look and also provide a little more room for the t-top I will eventually install.

Question is how best to have fixed to the floor from the inside?

Has anyone done this?

That’s what should have been taking place on my ‘79 MA large console, but I’m also thinning mine. My guy builds Fiberglass 90’s, like a long L bracket but glass, then glasses it from the inside to the deck. At least that was the plan before I decided I wanted the console narrowed. He’s waiting on the new fuel tank I still have with me in Fla. Hope this helps.

Vezo.

Some have glassed in a strip of good coring along the inside perimeter and screwed the console to it horizontally.

That would work also, Uncle Boo. My glass guy is not excited about cutting down the large console. Liked the idea of a Pathfinder console for $500 and done. Was his intentions for his Potter 18. It’s just too damn big. Forward seat does nothing but store two batteries. I’m cutting it off and setting a cooler there for more bow weight and seat. Hopefully have it in Fla by summer.

I hear you about the pathfinder console, but I already have the console and mine has the cooler up front under the seat. As to the size I guess I'll get used to it, but cutting it to get it thinner is a mission since everything has to play nicely together and I'm not that much of a pro to get it done

One can purchase fiberglass angle stock (90 degree) from McMaster Car. Comes in a variety of sizes. I screwed this down to the deck (may be possible to use thru bolts if the fuel tank hatch is opened, I can't remember now which method I used) and then used bolts to to secure the console to the angle stock. The seam can be caulked with a marine sealant. A pretty good solution.

I like the aluminum angle bolted down and the finish off with caulking

Was planning to cut it this weekend but it's racing here and I travel all this week for work.
