20 SF Transom Rebuild
New younger member here looking for advice on replacing a 20 SF transom. Was looking at purchasing a mid 70's 20 SF but noticed it may need a new transom. I am pretty handy and am willing to put in the work to do it myself however, what should I plan on spending to complete such a project?

3 times what you estimate cost wise and 3 times the amount of hours to do. But do it anyway, you will love it and have something to be proud of. One thing for certain it will be a lot cheaper than buying a new or newer 20 that is in mint condition.

Exactly what I was thinking. I love the Potter design SC's but on a college budget theres no way I'd be able to afford one in new condition, plus then I wouldn't be able to have the pride in saying I did the restoration myself

You'll spend $1,200 on supplies and I'd recommend Pentex or Coosa, with epoxy. You're going to have at least 40 hours from demo to final paint if you cut in from the outside. Not super complicated, just time consuming.
