console instrument box
I have the sliding door for the instrument compartment of the console of a 1989 20CC. It measures about 35" wide by 13" high. The frame is in good shape, the plexi glass is scratched and the wood on the back is fair. I plan to glass over this area, fix the console and sell it. It has a new windshield. I also have a fuel tank which will be for sale after I pressure test it. Before I get into the console repair, I'm wondering if it's worth eating all that fiberglass dust and if there is any demand for it?
Next I'll sell the trailer that came with the boat and use the cash to fix the 1989 SeaCraft 20CC. I rebuilt the leaning post but it came out too nice to part with, unless......... James Island Marine Group |

Fuel Capacity
Hi James, There are a few several out there, lot of people go for a smaller console on the 20's,I don't know if its worth the dust. I saw one the other day for $250, just not refurbished. Also happend to speak with a guy last week from this site looking to sell one. However all have been from older boats.
What is the fuel capacity on the tank? And if LARGER than 47-50 gals or so, what are the measurements? |

It's about 55 gallons. If you're interested I'll draw a sketch of it and post it here.

The leaning post is still over at the shop that painted it. The upholstery is new and the teak refinished. I was going to re install the chrome plated bronze Lee rod holders but may opt for new stainless ones. I have to find a couple of hinges for the folding seat and clean out the fiberglass storage box under the seat. I'll post pics when she's ready.
Nobody interested in a rebuilt SeaCraft console? When I was cutting the rotted balsa core out the other day I was mentally calculating how long it would take me to cut the whole thing small enough to fit in the trash can. I'd hate to destroy a piece of history but it's too big for a 20' boat. I was planning to remove all the balsa, replace it with plywood and glass over the area where the sliding door was to give a clean surface to mount electronics. Then fix the holes and sell. James |

why not just cut out a section in the middle, make it narrower, and glass back together

Seriously, since there is a foamed in compartment under the seat in front of the console, that wouldn't be practical. |
