Gents: Not really a stripe removal question, but what to do with the shadow? With all my spare time, thought I'd clean-up the hull. The Poly-Glow kit seemed like the lest amount of work so going with that. Question is, what to do with the shadow. It's a fingernail snag above the rest of the hull. Do I sand it flush with the hull or will a shined up hull blend into it?

Casey, I had to sand mine off! Used a fine paper and did it carefully.

Do not use Poly Glo. When it goes bad over time.... and it will, it is nearly impossible to get off all the way. Way too many good polishing kits to bring your gelcoat back over outdated poly coatings.
I would 800 grit wet sand the line out and finish with 1500 before buffing it out and waxing. Dish soapy water works great.

Ditto on what Ken says, not a fan of Poly Glo, because I had to take it off my skiff one time after hazing from the sun....no fun. After it's sanded off, variable speed buffer with a wool pad using Aqua Buff 2000 and then a coat of Colinite 920 cleaner and one or two coats of Colinite 925 wax and your good for a year....easy.

Agree above advice.
3M " Perfect - it" works very well also

You can still see where my stripe was, but you have to get kinda close.

That pic was after sanding and buffing the second time...once about 3 yrs ago and recently after I redid everything. Bad as mine was before, there's still a good amount of gelcoat left. I wouldn't shy away from hitting it again when it gets rough again.
