Default 2007 Yamaha 200 HPDI

So I am being offered a 2007 Yamaha 200 HPDI. Here are the details

2007 200 HPDI with approximately 550 hrs, engine looks very clean and the skeg is not banged up....looks like it was taken care of.
Comes with all the controls, rigging, gauges, harness, prop, and oil tank.

asking $4000

What have the experiences been with this engine? from what I've seen most like them and say they run well but I trust people here more Than a web search?

Why to look for? Is the price in line?

Thanks

I ran a 2007 200 hpdi for 2 years on a Hiliner 222. Great engine. Had 700 hours when I got it and never missed a beat. I fed it from a new fuel tank so it always had clean gas. Make sure the VST's are cleaned or replaced. Go for it!

Only "negatives" I know of with the HPDI's is they need clean fuel and the rectifier (or whatever) is water cooled and apparently these passages get corroded if it's saltwater so keep it flushed. I have friends that have run them for lots of hours.

I’m hopeful that one of the people that are coming to see my evinrude 150 buy it and get it off my boat this weekend.

Either way in preparation I am taking off the hydraulic steering cylinder and all the cables to get the process speed up for whatever motor comes my way.

I ran a 2005 200 HPDI on my 23 for almost ten years. It was one of the best motors I have ever owned. Very fuel efficient. Also ran 2002 twin 200s on a 25 SeaCraft for a few years prior. Always had good luck with the 200s. The high pressure pumps I have been told can be an issue on some of the hpdis but I never had that issue. The 300 hpdi was trouble.

The 200 as said above has a fantastic reputation and is a solid performer. That said, is the motor available see running? Compression test? $4k is a good price for a good running 13 year old motor of this type and brand. But it's a lousy deal if something pricey is wrong with it and you don't know up front and there is no guarantee from the owner.

Great Motor !! Make sure you keep clean fuel in it. If it gets a little water in the fuel it won't get on a plane
