20SF Helm Seating
So our 20SF’s restore is done. The next step is some helm seating. I personally don’t want a typical height leaning post or something as low as a swing back. I was thinking something like a tweener height bolster bench with a backrest and 4 rocket launchers. Something that is at a height that puts a bend in your legs and allows your legs hit the floor not a footrest but something that has a little more height than a typical swing back but less height of a typical leaning post which I feel is to tall for myself on a boat that already has little freeboard.
What have some of you done or like to have done about seating on these boats? Any ideas or thoughts?

What ever height you choose, make sure your rod tips after placing them in the rocket launcher, your forward & aft placement allows their tips to clear your T-Top.

Personally, I like the leaning post. If you got one and it was too high, you could cut the legs a little shorter and have them welded back to the mounts ( or new ones). I hate the rocket launcher posts that fan out. A friend of mine bought one years ago and we never used the holders on the outside. It was a pita to have to walk under the rods to get to the stern and back.

The leaning post that came with it was way too high, so I had a local welder shorten it by about 6 inches. It worked fine for the 5 years I owned her. In retrospect I probably could have lowered it another 6" as well. I wouldn't have minded it a little more "seat" and a little less "lean". A little shorter would also have accommodated the wife a bit better. I had the welder cut it so the footrest would still work. If I had gone shorter it would have removed the footrest, but if it was shorter I probably wouldn't have needed it anyway. Hmm... Anyway, solution was to eventually upgrade to a 23 Sceptre with Pompanette Captains chairs.
