Default Only you guys would understand .....

Let me paint the picture last week;

- Last Friday, I get the call that my boat/motor is winterized, can you pick it up. Check with my boss to leave early, says "fine".
- Wife calls, (baby due any day) we have to head to the hospital to check "stuff" out, go back to boss, still says "fine"
- My mother comes over to watch my daughter, go to hospital, a few hours later, everything checks out fine, she is told to go home and rest, start to drive out of hospital parking lot,

Now major decision time, do I or don’t I ask the question, the boat is 5 minutes up the road from the hospital;

I went for it "Honey, I am just going to pick the boat up …. It is 5 minutes up the road"

Then there was "dead" silence and I look on a pregnant lady I have never seen!!!

Proceeded to pick up the boat, dead silence most of the way home. All I could think is if she started to go, I would be heading back to the hospital running red lights in the snow, while trailering the boat to the ER …. Not too cool! Picturing myself later that night in the hospital parking lot, curled up in the boat cuddy, hopefully still alive ….

Well, made it home without incident, …. until my mother said "I see you made it home with your baby!"

My wife had to be so pissed that her water broke the next morning and a 9lb 12oz boy named Alexander came out!

Mommy, baby, big sister are doing fine ……… daddy, ... is still alive!

- Nick

Nick, congrats!

I fail to see the delema on how you handled it? What else were you to do? Drive home drop off the wife, then go back and get the boat? Of coarse then you'd be in the doghouse for leaving in her hour of need. It was really a no win situation and I think you did the right thing. Imagine that poor neglected boat there alone in the dark and snow, just waiting for you to arrive.

It's a no brainer.

Congrats again on the new addition, kids are great!

Nick, congrats on the bambino!! Look at it this way, if you didn't stop to pick up the boat and get your wife pissed off, she'd have to carry the baby a little longer. I think you did her a favor. Imagine if you did have to rush to the hospital with the boat in tow, now that would be an event to remember. Nick,

Congratulations. Laughed out loud (LOL) at your story. That would be me for sure. Sleeping bag always in truck, cause you never know.

You really have something to be thankful for...

Best regards,
