Welcome aboard Dave. Much to learn here even if you don't own a SeaCraft! Strick has built several brackets, so check out his threads which are permanently stuck in the Repairs forum. An 18 is a bit small for a bracket, so I'd suggest you check out my post on the pros & con's of brackets on this forum also.

i think i have boobed
hi bushwacker i have read your post pros and cons of outboard brackets and found it very helpfull but i think the fairey hunt 18 is fine for a bracket there may be someone on the forum that knows off the boat as fairey only built 12 off them in late 1960s early 1970s then stoped tradying and sold some of the moulds to a ferm in the US i think was named O.BOATS one off witch the owner has been in tutch with the fairey owners club with pics off the boat sporting a 5.lt v8 i/o dont know the lay up on the O.BOATS but the fairey boats were built like tanks the lay up was totaly wovern roven hull and topside i whould like to get the plans as i whant to build the bracket myseilf in 18mm ply and fiberglass inside and out in 3 layers of wovern roven a.t.b dave

Greetings and welcome aboard mate.
Seems your boat is a Ray Hunt design and a cool little skiff at that. Lot of talent on this board so I'm sure if you don't behave like a "wanker" some one will steer you in the right direction. strick, bigshrimpin, hermco and a handful of other regular forum residents have built brackets and are a wealth of information. Good guys to boot and I'm sure they'd discuss the matter with you as time permits. You've probably already seen this but here's a link wherein someone scored the hull molds, modified the cap and added a bracket to build his own Fairey Hunt 18: http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/pro...a-42011-6.html Good luck with your project looks like a very capable little skiff. Cheers, McGill

There are two brackets built in this thread, the first one starting on page 4, post #37.
http://www.classicseacraft.com/commu...t=24103&page=4 The second one is later in the thread, but reading through the whole thing to find it will be worth your time. strick is quite talented at DIY, one-off fiberglass fabrication. Dave
