Default Up to the bootstripe in water but on the trailer!

I checked on the boat today. I was trying to brush 16" of snow and ice off the tarp so it didn't crush anything. After I broke thru the crust under my feet and fell into waist deep snow, I noticed that the frozen water (snow and ice) was up to the bootstripe in places. When will this end?

I hear ya, sucks in the western end of Mass as well.had 14" thursday, another 6" on friday, and about 4" on saturday. Now they're calling for 3-5" tomorrow. All This is on top of the foot or more that was on the ground from past storms.
I can only hope my boats shrink wrap is holding up.Its 6 hours away at my camp in Niagara county NY, 18 miles from the mouth of the Niagara river, not exactly a warm place.
Keep the faith spring is on the way.

I was at Merton's today after shoveling out the bed of my truck. We were complaining about the weather. After I told him I had a seacraft, he mentioned you and your boat and the nice job you did on your restoration.

I was getting divinycell and resin and picking his brain. And emptying my wallet- I was like a kid in a candy store .

Yeah,he told me you were in. Joe is a great guy,I met him about 30 years ago when I was restoring an old molded plywood boat.Back then the resin of choice was polyester. He taught me the basics, and from time to to I'd stop in to see him,and shoot the breeze, eventually becoming good friends.
He's probably one of the most modest and honest people I know.I've seen him spend up to an hour on the phone with customers giving them lessons on fiberglassing. He is a boat nut for sure.He has the patience of a saint.
He's also the person responsible for me getting a seacraft,I would always complain how those steep close wave patterns on the Great lakes were like being in a washing machine, bang, bang, bang,There were so many times that we'd get blown off.

He said to me, "You need to get yourself a Seacraft".

Hell, I never heard of them, but it turned out to be the best advice ever.We still get blown off,but I feel a whole lot safer in the Seacraft when I have to make a 10 to 30 mile trip back to the dock when its nasty.Whats even nicer is when a guy in a 28' Baha Cruisers(not Baja) asked me how fast I was going when I passed him in those conditions.

I like to joke with Joe Merton about his collection, too many boats way to little time.Did he show you the nice Cummins diesel he did over,to replace the Volvo thats in his Lobster boat?

Looks like you have plenty of boat work going on yourself, good luck with it.
I'd love to do over another Seacraft, but at my age and the work involved I don't see it happening.I'm sitting home recuperating from disc replacement surgery.Talk about feeling like an animal in a cage.I cant wait for spring,my days of enoying winter are long gone.

He IS a nice guy. I saw the cummins in the corner. I worked on that engine during my stint at Freightliner corporate. I guess his Volvo is smokey?

He had lots of good information for me. I have some formal composites engineering background, but not nearly as much practical hand layup knowledge. If it were transfer molded or done with pre-preg in an autoclave, that's different. So his insights to foam core construction were valuable. I think I was there 2.5 hours. I did a lot of shopping, and drove away with 3 4x8 sheets of H80 and a few gallons of product.

Once I get the 25 up and running reliably, there needs to be a NE get together. Cape Cod Bay or Gulf of Maine, or somewhere. The Florida crew can't have all the fun.

Oh yeah- the snow is over the transom now on the 25. On the trailer.

I'm sitting outside, on the lanai, looking at my 25, trying to imagine what it would be like to have snow high enough to be over the transom. I can conceive of hurricanes, but that is just mind boggling.

One year in Vt., we had snow up to the 2nd floor. A tunnel to the front door.

82 here today. Almost as warm as Sochi...

Just pick a weekend for a gathering now. The hey guys what do you think of this doesn`t work. For folks who are sick of snow, you sure are averse to commitment.

Sunday. July 6th. Sandy neck. Cape Cod. That is as far as I can go from where I put in- on the RI/MA border.

The islands or buzzards bay are easier for me but if I have the 25, then that distance is fine. And the 20 is a proven out boat.

I am busy the other weekend days in July. Or the gulf of Maine some other time?

Oh yeah. We get hurricanes too. And -40F. And I have been on a 30 foot sailboat in a 110 knot line squall with no warning to speak of. I often wonder why I stay up here.

Do I have to come up there and show you folks how to throw a clam bake?

My neck please.
I`ll make Bunny proud.
