Ken-

Your motor is mounted correctly and is the prop an 18 or an 18.5? That is my exact set-up. I am getting 48 mph lightly loaded. Your boat is set up right. I’m totally surprised with your numbers. Is it possible the prop has been worked to reduce the pitch? It is behaving like a super low pitch prop.

The prop is a Power Tech 16 x 18 3 blade. There is not much bottom paint on it. The haul was stripped and painted 8 years ago. I leave the boat on a trailer so I have only painted the haul twice in 8 years. I am taking the numbers with a full tank of fuel and one passenger.
What do you think about the weight of the 2 batteries in the stern? She does appear to be squatting especially under 4000 rpms. I am think of moving the batteries forward to the cabin or the storage area between the seats. Do you think this will help?

Seems to be the zuke thread so I’m reviving it to ask a couple questions. Motors are hard to come by these days and I was looking at getting a 225 Suzuki or Yamaha. Yamahas are apparently somewhere around a year out from now, maybe. Suzuki is also hard to get. I found a 250 Suzuki fly by wire, but it looks like the control is to large at the base to fit on my console of my 23 cc. Anybody have similar issues.
Also, with my 25” transom, I could never lift my Yamaha all the way up. The Suzuki, from what I’ve read has an offset shaft that allows the power head to sit further forward, moving the cg a little forward. That would be ok, but now wondering if that makes a difference in allowing the motor to tilt in the splash well. Thanks.

Thanks. Over the 17 years that I have had my Yami on the boat, it has come in contact with the splash well door or even the lip of the splash well. Not to mention the cables bending. Mechanics seem to want to put the motor in the uppermost position, even when I leave word for them not to. I have sold my motor now and I wish now I would have just stored it while work on the boat is completed. Got feelers out looking for a Suzuki and they are saying 8-12 months now. The 8 months guy wants 50% down to get on the “list”. 25” transom and had to use the top bolt holes on the motor,

When measuring the height of the AV plate above the keel, it needs to be measured with the AV plate completely parallel to the keel, not with the motor trimmed in as far as it will go. Use a straight edge against the keel and then trim the motor AV plate parallel before measuring.
