Default Length of hose for hydraulic steering?

Anyone know if 16ft is long enough for a 20 MA with the original console for a seastar helm and ram?

Or too long?

Its plenty long. I can't say how the hoses of the seastar kit come but I used the baystar kit on my 20' SF with a 150 and the lines are trim to length. I moved my console slightly forward and still cut 5' or so off of the hydraulic hoses when I got everything routed how I wanted.

One end of them is a finished crimped hose end and the other is left unfinished, slide the compression nut and olive over the hose, trim, and connect.

Where as that hose is not cheap, I would take a string and run it from point
A-B then tie a knot where it ends..
Leave enough slack for the bends fore and aft...

Just my 2 cents worth..

Pretty sure I just put 16? hoses on my 20SF. They came with the Baystar kit. I would consider going with a Seastar and longer hoses. If you cut them to length then you should be fine. Just leave enough for the bends and travel.

Yes longer is better than shorter would rather not cut and hide excess somewhwere.

Going to.measure and see what happens

What ken said^

Usually i buy the hose by the foot and put the fittings on myself. Most hydraulic shops will have it. Will be a perfect fit too.

Are the end fitting universal hydraulic fittings? I thought they were unique to SeaStar?

The new style “orb” ones are unique but a good hydraulic place should have or can get em quickly...
