Universal boat cover for a 20' Seafari?
I'm looking for some ideas to cover my Seafari from the Oak tree crap during the summer months, to cover bow to stern. Maybe something with an elastic edge to hold in place and quickly and easily removed/installed. Any suggestions? Looking for a cost effective solution to avoid having to bleach my boat every weekend.

I ordered one of these. Haven’t put it on yet to test it but is supposed to be a near perfect fit.

Hey Jennings, thanks friend! That looks perfect. Let me know how it fits, if you plan on trying it out this year... otherwise I'll take the gamble as the price works for me. Did you get just the cover or with their "support system"? I'm going to give them a call to see if gray is anticipated back in stock any time soon...

Covering a Seafari
Hi John-
It sounds like you have a good reason to cover your Seafari. The covers you are considering will be easier than what I had. For the first seven years of my Seafari's life i covered it with a large rectangular cover that completely covered the boat to the chine, of course had to provide a support from the top of the windshield to the Merc to allow water to drain. When it got to the point of asking myself do I want to go boating today badly enough to deal with untying and folding the cover, I decided the cover had to go! The last 15 years it has been stored in a gated facility under roof near my home to keep UV off my teak and doesn't get squirrels in it like it would in my yard. Enjoyed the photo of folks having fun in your Seafari. |

Hey Terry! Great to hear from you and I hope all is well with you and yours!
This just takes the wind right outta your sails when you just want a clean boat ready to launch! I figure it will be quicker to uncover than to thoroughly bleach/wash the boat once a week. I'm sure I'll be cleaning a cover instead then! LOL. Hopefully we're past the pollen spike here; there's less crap accumulating in the boat day-by-day. Previously the boat was never stored directly under trees. We have quotes to trim them but it will never be fully free from debris here. I use a Harbor Freight heavy tarp in the winter similar to what you describe. I tie a line from bow, over the windshield, and down the O/B, around LU/prop, then to a cleat to form a "tent", also held w/ half-dozen bungee cords. I can't imagine doing that each time take the boat out! (^I've since polished the marinium cleat and gas filler, and painted the cap SEM trim black ) |

Just John's Seafari Cover

And thanks for your well wishes- all is pretty good except no boating at the moment. I had planned to have this cataract surgery well over before boating season. But doctor and Covid delays interfered with that plan. Just completed one eye and so far so good |

For the money these fence post canopies are a great alternative....

^yeah, we have quotes to pave our driveway, and one option is to also extend it to do the side yard, to store the boat. If that happens, then the tent idea is very tempting! Not likely though, since we need to take down another huge pine tree to make it happen and it all adds up to more trouble than it's worth.
Good luck with your recovery Terry! I hope you get out on the water soon! |
