Hey all,
Decided to go all in on a twice abandoned rebuild. Hull is a 1973. Originally it was an I/O, but someone chopped it out of there, and the plan is to rip out the past attempt at building a transom.... Long story short, I will not be using any of the deck parts, and just fabricating some new ones. Old parts were cut into way to many pieces to be worthwhile. Will be reusing the foredeck storage lockers, and cutting new hatches. Going to need some help with measurements if anyone on here has them. * Width at transom? currently 83" without the deck, and not sure if it sprung, and they just let it slide. *Distances from transom to aft end of console, aft end of fuel tank, and to raised foredeck. Thanks in advance, and appreciate any input. |

Does it have a cap? Should be closer to 80”...

I just bought a 73 unmolested 20 sf. I'll get the width and such. As far as the distances from the transom to the console, tank, etc., you need to decide your power and how the center of gravity will change with your modifications. I moved the console forward 9" and the tank 15" on my 18 and will be moving the console forward +/- 12" when I do the 20. Good luck with the rebuild!

Thanks. Would be pretty helpful.
Started cutting out the plywood today, and the hin is definitely skewed at a diagonal. Surprising how difficult it is to remove a poorly bonded transom |

I measured at the top of the cap, 80" wide at the transom.

Got it mostly ready. Feels good to get that demo out of the way. Think this is basically back to zero.
Moving forward from here on out. ![]() |

Looks good, it sure is nice to start putting things back in.
Make sure you put some bracing to keep your hull side from flexing out. Some of the more experienced guys can say more but I've read that without it you may have problems down the road. |
