Yeah it would have been awesome if the photos to the few rebuilds of these models were still available. Seems like most all photos on this site were removed by the destruction by third party hosting sites. A real shame.

I wasn’t planning to raise the stringer but rather rest a coosa platform directly on it and tie into the sides. Keeping as much depth as possible. Regarding drainage, if I kept the same power cockpit depth it would be uphill to the transom but if I raised it (still undecided) i should have enough fall to drain…but then again the entire deck will be slopped to the transom anyhow. We shall see.

Working under the deck: I never said it was easy, just much better than pulling the cap.

I cut out all three bulkheads and worried that the hull would deform and my deck cut outs not fit. No worries, nothing moved at all. Still a better idea to do them one at a time.

For the added bulkheads forward of the tank bulkhead, I used cardboard to template, then did each bulkhead in two sections, port and starboard. That way I could cut the bulkhead so it hooked over the main stringer. Glassed the two pieces back together and tabbed all the way around, main stringer , outside stringer, inner liner, etc. itchy, itchy itchy! kind of ugly, but it worked.

Having had a pretty severe amount of hull damage and not being able to see possible damage on the outside of the secondary bulkheads, I went over kill. Put in two full bulkheads( one to continue the vertical part of the inner liner aft of the bunk and another a few feet forward, just where the worst hull damage was) and a half bulkhead half way between the tank bulkhead and the bunks

Tried hard to avoid hard spots, but made one anyway. A couple of years later, starting to see stress cracks in the gelcoat, I added stiffening to the area between the forwardmost new bulkhead extending through the original forwardmost bulkhead. Seemed to solve the problem.

Oh I don't look forward to it one bit. Fiberglass work is messy stuff but I have gotten the hang of it on my bay boat projects. I can only imagine what its like to grind and glass in a concealed space though. At least it doesn't really have to be pretty. haha

With the liner and decks in place, I thought I would be ok. Going to 6 point keel/chine block and level it to keep it stable while changing bulkheads.

After a lot of struggling with the outdrive drive bracket/gimbal bracket, it is finally off! I got some 80 grit and cleaned off the bottom paint. One step at a time. Ill be cleaning out the below deck filth and foam and hoping to replace bulkheads this year and figure out how and where I can stuff a fuel tank further forward.

And bottom paint is gone..at least off the transom ...
