Default Re: 20 Sceptre rebuild

Jim,

It's cold in the shop, I can't imagine working outside.

I recored the big hatch with ply and WEST. It's good forever. We hope to paint this week and actually start putting screws back in the boat.

Take your time, enjoy the journey.

Otto

Default 20 Sceptre rebuild

Talked someone into driving the boat up from Florida for $500. Took him 3 days, and hit some foul weather. He missed the NC ice storm by just one day! Boat is being dismantled in the driveway. Next week it will be going indoors.

Removed the windshield, splash well cover, and fuel hatch. Hatch core was wet and has now been de-cored. Boat looks pretty neat with the windshield off, but will be going back on after finishing work is done.

Anyone here with vacuum bagging experience? I plan on bagging the hatches and using Nida-core. Stuff is so rigid, I think it will guarantee a flat hatch. I’ve got questions about the ply peel. If anyone has experience, please let me know.
