Default Anyone ever try this with thru-hull scuppers?

I know this topic seems to have been answered many ways. So please don't crucify me here I haven't been here very long. But in all my searches(I really wish I could collapse the threads)I can not find anyone that has tried a joker valve instead of the plug, unless I am missing something here. It seems it could work. yes, no, maybe?

Not sure what you mean by a joker valve. Do a search for Fellowship's "Vortex" scupper plug design. It works pretty well.

Joker valves usually work best under some sort of pressure, the amount of pressure from standing water may not be enough to open the valve and disperse of the water quickly enough.

Default Re: CSC Emblems - Hats - Jackets, etc. Special Sa

I knew I'd seen that term before, but I replaced my built in head with a Portapottie! The vortex scupper is basically a joker valve, but a very weak one. It's essentially open all the time and depends on back pressure to close it. I changed Fellowships design from using fingers off a latex glove to nitrile gloves, which seem to be a little more durable.

Thanks for the input guys... I realize a joker valve usually operates under pressure. But I would think that the boat moving would create enough suction to pull the water out or if you took a sizable amount of water in the cockpit it be enough weight to open the valve enough or you could just yank them out. I realize it might not get rid of the water as quickly as liked but its got to be better than running with the plugs in. You can buy duckbill valves, joker valves in tons of different sizes...
