Default turkey anyone?

On the way home today I counted 30 wIld turkeys out in a field up the road from my house. Stoped and watched them for a few minutes and it didn't seem to bother them. They must know it is not turkey season yet!

I counted 28 or so walking across my front yard a couple of weeks back.

I won't let the dogs (cockers) out when they are out there because the turkeys simply won't take any grief from the dogs. The turkeys are some nasty birds that aren't afraid of alot, particularly smaller dogs and such.

Before going to the NHRA Gatornationals Sunday, we spent the weekend at my brother's hunting camp NE of Gainesville. They got three gobblers Saturday morning, the first day of turkey season.

Last time I was in Vt., they were everywhere. Not just on the class 4 roads either. On main paved roads and flocks of 30-50. Few younger folks hunt these days. Nothing like wild turkey in the fall after they have been eating apples and nuts. Yum.

Frizzle, does your race boat have a knee inside the transom? 4" wide and about 14" high?

There was one in my yard this morning. Happens every year when the big toms push out the little guys

Here is a picture of them feeding. It is only about half of them. The rest is to the right out of the frame.

My wife started feeding them last fall, nows there's 40-50 of them that show up twice a day. She loves these things, can't wait for them to show up everyday

They are everywhere around my house, not a day goes by when there isn't a bunch of them walking around the yard. They got to the point of being pests.Every night at dusk they'd roost in the trees and crap all over my truck.
I had to change parking spots it got so bad. It's not uncommon to have 20 to 30 of them pecking around.I got tired of taking pictures of them.

Here's a few pics from various times,I have a lot more, but this newly revamped photobucket site is almost impossible to use,and soooo slow that I couldn't get to all my pics.

The middle picture looks like roast turkey dinner for eight and nine turkey sandwiches for the balance of the week.
