Default Sceptre 20 restore - windshield re-attach

Hello CSCers,

Restoring a '76 Sceptre 20'. Advice on re-seating a windshield? The frame seems to have just popped out in the corners a bit.

Thanks

I'll be interested in following this thread, as I'm restoring a 19 Bowrider. Any comments on wind screen replacement sources would be great. Thanks in advance.

Assuming the frame/attachment is the same as on a 23' Sceptre... check the integrity of the bolts that attach the windshield frame to the top cap by looking underneath the top cap. The bolt heads slide in a channel on the bottom of the frame, and if not tight the entire frame could work loose and shift, which is what looks like happened. Possibly the nuts have loosened or come off, the bolt holes are reamed out, or the bolts have broken. To do a proper repair, you may need to remove the windshield, which is relatively easy for two people, and is also a good time to recondition the frame or replace the glass. Following is a thread about the special bolts needed.

Thanks for the suggestions - here are a couple of gasket links referred to me also. I'm going to pull the windshield shortly so will take some pics.
