Two people, inshore gear, artificial bait :
1) Tee top with electronics box - 36 MPH WOT, 21 MPH cruise at 4,000 getting 3.5 MPG.
2) Bimini top, little windshield - 40 MPH WOT, 24 MPH cruise at 4,000 getting 3.8 MPG.
Zuke 140's are very good motors with occasional minor problems with premature corrosion at the base of the oil coolers. They are the right weight motors for the 20' Seacrafts to run on a slow plane when it is raggedy out and you want to get home without "crashing" to much and spilling your beer.
Pictures and data about how you use the boat would help, Bro'; Just sayin'.

Same as Terry... Great motor for that hull. The oil cooler issue can me resolved by changing it as it is a spin on that spins on to the block before the filter spins on. Even if it fails I have pulled the oil and replaced the cooler multiple times on the same power head about three or four times on the same powerhead. No Problems. Tons of hours or commercial use on that motor. Sold it after I re powered.

Thanks,
Mick

I've got a DF140 on a 20' Safari. Bimini down, 2 people, 37K. Gets 4nmpg all day long, factory 20 pitch prop. Great choice for this hull.

Default 140 zuke

The 140 zuke is a great motor... but having had both multiple 20's seafari, sceptre and master angler... I would opt for more power IMHO. But i am kind of a power nut.... I had both a 200 Merc and 225 merc on my 20's and a 150.

The 200 was great... the 150 a little weak and the 225 Was just Bitchin. Being on the west coast no one has a clue what these boats are... and i just put a 325 Verado on my 23 Tsunami.

At the end of the day... you can always control with the the little throttle lever on your left...but when you want power no reason to wring it out. I got 3 mpg all day long with a 2 stroke merc on my 20's.

If i was going 4 stroke you might consider the 175 zuke... The 140 is weak and the 175 is strong... not sure of weight difference between the 2. Weight is an issue on these boats....

Good Luck no matter what you choose...
