Default SeaCraft/Regulator Story

Before I say anything else, let me just say that I think Regulator makes a great boat and if I were buying a new boat today and had a stockpile of money, I would seriously consider a Regulator.

Anyway here is a quick "us verses them" story.

Last night at dusk I had just finished fishing about 5 miles south of the tip of Sandy Hook (on the ocean side). Riding back I had an excellent wind with tide situation. It was like surfing.

I am motoring home in some 3 foot seas and my friend notices that a 23 foot Regulator starts pulling up next to me. I am doing around 25 MPH at the time and enjoying the ride. I step it up to about 28/29 MPH and the Regulator does the same. I do this a number of times, as does the Regulator. My friend then makes a snide comment about how this is turning into a Regulator verse SeaCraft contest. As soon as he said this the Regulator owner starts to pass me.

Acting like the true kid that i am, i said to my friend that i have had enough of this and pinned both of my 150 Yamaha's. Next thing that i knew we were doing close to 50 MPH and leaving the regulator in the dust.

Aside from by adolescent behavior, it was a great feeling to be going close to 50 MPH in a strong following sea, with a setting sun on my left side and a Regulator in my wake.
