R.I.P. Chrysler 318
Thanks for the replies, Bushwacker and Islander!!!
Well...it looks like my engine is shot. I thought I needed exhaust manifolds and risers, which would run $800+. My flywheel is missing teeth too. I could have lived with that, but to have it installed, I would need to hire a mechanic to lift the motor...$500+. Also, my water pump "may" be shot. $100+. Total of $1400+ Plus compression in 1 cylinder was 25 and in another cylinder it was 75. The mechanic stopped the test after that, so he wouldn't have to charge me the full hour. I have access to a compression check setup, so I'm going to check it myself. So...a mechanic across the canal from my boat has a few complete inboards in the $1300 range. I may look into it soon, or I may wait until Spring. However, if I wait until Spring, I run the risk of higher prices and a longer wait to get engine installed, since everyone is trying to get the boats ready for the season. Does anyone know a great engine place on Long Island? I'm looking for a deal. I love my boat. |
